Movie Endings: Devious or Dangerous? Journal 6 Revised

Hollywood does everything it can to make as much money as they possibly can.  Hollywood typically has a recipe to is success.  Pleasing audiences normally follows that specific recipe, if filmmakers are wise they generally stick to the recipe.  This recipe normally starts bliss, followed by a criss, a climax, some sort of battle or confrontation and then ends with a satisfying conclusion.  The one thing that Hollywood does very well is ending movies with a satisfying ending, if they fail to do so movies normally become busts.  Having a good ending leaves audiences feeling good and satisfied, not mad and leaves many questions.  Ending are one of the most complicated things in the movie industry because endings can sometimes led to controversy.  Sometimes endings can be a source of controversy when books are made into movies.  Many people do not like when the ending changes from the book, making the movie very different from the book.  The questions arises should movies be allowed to change endings to please audiences?  The new movie Breaking Dawn alters major moments at the end of the movie to please audiences. Pleasing audiences is one thing but change someone else's work can potentially be crossing the line.  I do not have a problem with filmmakers trying to please an audience but I do think that switching movies is potentially disastrous.  Fans go to the movies expecting to see one thing but instead are met with something completely different.  Even though changing the ends to movies can please audiences I think that movies that are based off books should be left alone.

What Makes Live Music Great? Journal 4 Revised

In order to have a successful concert many different things have to be planned, thought of and carried out.  Live performers are always under the pressure to have their best performance. The stress is always mounting for them, if their vocals are not perfect they can receive harsh backlash from the crowd.  The crowd will accuse performers of using auto-tune. If the singers and performers do not have the best choreographed dance the crowd will say that they are boring, stiff and dull.  Performers are constantly trying new jumps, tricks and ideas on stage to show their audiences a good time.  Although, sometimes keeping ahead of the game can be exhausting for some performers.  They push themselves sometimes to the breaking point.  Sometimes, despite al their hard work their acts can be flops.  Performing live can be a  tricky task that not all artists can manage; it can be a hard task to master.  Many times when artists do have a good show audiences are unappreciative, they don't realize that in order for a performance to be great the singer can't just be a singer, they also have to be a performer.  Live performance can be a big factor when some people are judging artists. I know for me when I am deciding who some of my favorite singers are I think about a few different things, how their music relates to me, their voice and how they perform live.  Live performances shows people what an artist is made of.  It gives a chilling and thrilling experience that can't be seen any other time way. A radio, stereo and TV can't compare to being right next to an artist, live and in person.  Many times when we see a artist live their true talent is revealed.

Harry Potter Returns Journal 7 revised

Harry Potter returns! Well, Harry Potter isn't technically returning but parts of the magic are still living on.  After seven books, eight movies, theme parks, video games and action hero toys Harry Potter is returning to it's roots.  It all goes back to the start, a new Harry Potter book is coming out in stores.  It doesn't continue on the story or tell us what happens next but instead its a spell book.  The book will contain all the spells that helped make Harry Potter famous.  Being the Harry Potter nerd that I am I found the new to be very exciting.  Anything that helps Harry Potter live on is good news for me.  Brining back Harry Potter brings back memories of my childhood and all the fun I had watching and reading it.  Harry Potter was a huge part of most kids childhood, we waited in lines for the books to come out, staked out hours before the midnight premiere of each movie.  No child can look back at their childhood without thinking a little bit about Harry Potter.  It helped define this generation.  Although, the one thing thats against this is that its an obvious way to earn more money.  Ever since the series ended income has significantly decreased and by writing a new book it helps profits rise again.  Even so, Every Harry Potter deprived fan will flock to the new book and will instantly want to buy it.  The following that the books had was record-breaking.  People followed and supported it for over ten years.  Having anything to do with Harry Potter excites fans.  By spacing out new merchandise it keeps fans interested and buying the new products. No matter what the motivation was for the book I will definitely be excited to read it, as I'm sure many other fans are too.

What Makes Live Music Great?

In order to have a successful concert many different things have to be planned, thought of and carried out.  Live performers have to sing great, if there vocals are not perfect they can receive harsh backlash from the crowd about having their voices auto tuned in the studios.  If the performers do not have good dance moves the crowd will say that they are boring to watch and too stiff.  Performers are constantly trying new jumps, tricks and ideas on stage to show and wow their audiences like no one else has ever done before.  Keeping ahead of the game can be exhausting for some performers; sometimes their acts can come out on top or be flops.  Performing live can be a  tricky task that not all artists can handle; it can be hard to master.  When artists manage to perform well audiences better appreciate artists because they realize that an artist is multi-demensional and capable of not only being a singer but they are capable of being a performer.  When I am deciding who some of my favorite singers are I think about a few different things, how their music relates to me, their voice and how they perform live.  Live performances shows people what an artist is made of.  It gives a chilling experience that can't be seen any other time way, a radio and stereo can't compare to being right next to an artist.  When seeing an artist live their true talent is revealed.

Favorite Movie

My favorite move is by far Remember the Titans.  The movie did a good job with the character portrayal and diversity in the cast.  I remember the first time I ever watched it, I was completely blown away by the huge issues the movie tackled; racism, equality and being accepted.  The movie was so powerful because it explored these issues while making emotional appeals.  I think the movie was so powerful because it showed so many different emotions; it made me cry, laugh and even get angry.  The last thing that truly amazed me was that it was a true story.  So everything I was feeling was real, I wasn't getting sad over fiction but actually upset about the truth.  The story left me questioning some people's motives.  Why could some people act that way and treat others like dirt?  More importantly are we not all human?  I think this movie is my favorite because unlike other movies it tells the truth and questions people's motives.

Believing Games B

·        Another view on Brett Favre is less generous.  People do not remember him for his legacy but for his off-field actions, playing for his old team’s rival, sexting a reporter, and his inability to make a decision on retirement.  They shoot down his accomplishments by saying that anybody who played for as long as Favre did could have accomplished the same records.  People instead look at his bad statistics, most incomplete passes, only 1 Superbowl and the most all-time interceptions.  Love or hate Brett Favre on thing stands true; he will forever be remembered as a quarterback with controversy.
